A hand-drawn estate plan of Maccarese for Duke Girolamo Mattei shows sea, ponds, woods, huts and a tower, with a cartouche listing areas in Italian.
Trees are painted in green wash across the coastal strip, and a river runs north to the sea past a tower. Stagno ponds lie on the left, a pink patch fills the south-east, and a graphic scale appears at the bottom right.
